~ Biography of ERIC H. BARET, M.D.  ~

Compassion"Practicing Medicine is an art", says the old adage, but nobody more than Dr. Baret realised fully this concept by becoming both a successful physician as well as an internationally recognised sculptor.

Born in the historically and artistically rich region of Burgundy , France, Dr. Baret early on in life developed his natural interest for art and history, and he nurtured his talent toward three dimensional art.

The knowledge of anatomy and physiology of each movement of the human body he acquired as a medical student was the foundation of his noticed personal sculptural signature of the "ebauche d' action" (action at it's very beginning).  By the time he graduated from medical school, he had held his first gallery show.

Moving to the United States of America, he then specialized in Pediatrics and settled in a city close to Atlanta, opening his own private practice.  At the same time, Dr. Baret also focused on the art of bronze sculpture, taking some summer courses in foundry techniques, and opened his own studio.

For more than 35 years, Dr. Baret has worked on different subjects of interest that form a unique collection of approximately 40 genuine bronze pieces, regrouped under the title "From Heroes to Saints".  Dr. Baret personally supervises the costly casting of bronze in the "lost wax" process.  The signature of the artist, a label of quality, appears always embedded in the bronze itself.

Lack of time has prevented Dr. Baret until now from committing to many gallery exhibits.  The few shows that he could master in the past, mostly in the Southeastern United States, were always well received. The only international jurried competition in which he participated brought him international recognition when he won "The First Best Maquette" prize during the Third International Rodin Exhibition.
